Masala Vada are popular in Tamil nadu. You can see it the every menu of hotels and restaurants there. Its a spicy snack .


Ingredients:
1/2 cup - toor dal
1/2 cup - channa dal
1 tbsp - urad dal
1 no - onions, big and finely chopped
5 nos - red chillies
1" inch piece - gingera
few: curry leaves
oil for deep frying
salt to taste.

Method:

  1. Soak all dals together for an hour.
  2. Grind all ingredients except onions to a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil for deep frying.
  4. Add onions to the paste.
  5. Shape like Vada and deep fry. Shape into flattened round ball.
  6. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.

Making Time: 30minutes.

Serves: 3 persons (8-9 vadas).

Shelflife: 1 day (if regrigerated and stored and fried again then ,can be used for 2 days).

Note: Dont add water while grinding the mixture. If needed just 1 tbsp of water can be added.
