Cabbage Poriyal is common side dish in most tamilan households due to its simplicity and less requirement of ingredients . Its a quick to make recipe in hand and is often served as side dish with other cuisines.



Ingredients:
2 Cups cabbage, shredded
1/2 tsp Urad dal
1 tsp Mustard seeds
2 Dry red chillies, broken
1 Green chilli, slit
8 to 10 Curry leaves
1/4 Cup fresh coconut, grated
A pinch turmeric powder
2 tsp Oil
Salt to taste.



Method:
  1. Take a frying pan and heat oil.
  2. Add mustard seeds and urad dal. Let the seeds crackle.
  3. Add green chilli, dry red chillies, curry leaves and turmeric powder.
  4. Stir the mixture for few seconds.
  5. Add cabbage, salt and 1/4 cup of water.
  6. Cook over medium heat until the cabbage is tender.
  7. Mix grated coconut with it and serve hot.


Making Time: 15 minutes.

Serves: 4 persons.

Shelflife: Best Fresh.



Note: Dont add or sprinkle water while cooking this recipe. Better use a non stick tawa for easy cooking. Add salt in advance , so that it leaves moisture and makes it easy for u to cook. Turmeric can be added as per one's choice of food colour. Those who perefer the original cabbage colour can add a pinch of turmeric while those who want a change of colour can add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder while cooking the recipe.
